When he learns that Joker is the one responsible, the enraged and sorrow-ridden Kryptonian confronts the Clown Prince of Crime in the middle of Batman's interrogation. The League realises, with horror, that not only is a nuclear missile warhead missing from the sub, but that Lois had a heart monitor attached to her by the Joker that would detonate a nuke inside Metropolis when her heart stops beating, which it does as Superman watches in horror once the gas wears off and sees who he really took into orbit. Unbeknownst to him, it is not actually Doomsday he is seeing, but an illusion caused by fear toxin laced with Kryptonite which Joker stole from Scarecrow, the purpose of the Kryptonite being so that the toxin could enter Superman's bloodstream. When Wonder Woman finds out that it was the Joker who kidnapped Lois and hijacked a submarine along with Harley Quinn, Superman rushes out to open waters, finds the sub, and enters it, only to be confronted by none other than Doomsday. Batman promptly informs the rest of the Justice League to begin searching for Lois. Labs and requests him for his help, showing him a Joker card left behind at the docks. After informing his best-friend and hero ally, Batman of the news that he and Lois are expecting, he discovers that his friend Jimmy was killed while with Lois on the assignment at the docks, while Lois was kidnapped. Superman meets with Batman, who informs him that he's in Metropolis on his way to S.T.A.R. The two depart their separate ways to investigate what has gotten their attention. Superman, birth name Kal-El and adopted name Clark Kent, is the brutal High Councilor, leader of the Regime. right now, I'm terrified that a Superman who isn't afraid to lose anything. Now he may be beyond caring what happens to himself or anyone else. His humanity was always tied to his compassion and fear for others' well-being. Clark has never had much to fear for himself. Now I'm acutely attuned to fear in all living things. I understand this as a yellow lantern, with a ring that is fueled by fear.
